List Of Medical Billing Courses And Medical Coding Courses At Our Local Two-Year College
People often ask me what types of medical billing courses or medical coding courses or
classes they'll be taking or should be taking online or on campus for their training in this field. This list of
medical billing and coding courses and classes offered through our local college will give you an idea of what kind
of classes you could take at your local college or online. It will also give you an idea of
what billing and coding courses you may need if you're deciding online what classes to take.
This is just one program offered by one school and there may be many other variations. There is no standard set
for coding or billing classes or programs such as you would find for registered nurses who must take a state
examination. There is no state examination in any state at this writing.
These classes taken over a one-year period will earn you the "Certificate of Proficiency in Medical
Billing/Coding Specialist" from this school. They combine billing and coding courses, which in many ways
makes sense.
One of the nice things about taking local college courses is that many of the local companies hire
graduates after receiving their certificate. In fact one of our two local hospitals is the largest employer in this
part of the state - Southwest Washington and it's a huge place.
Local Companies Hire Graduates of Medical Billing and Coding Programs
These companies include clinics large and small, family practices, medical centers, doctors in private practice,
family medicine doctors and urgent care clinics, long term facilities, health agencies, insurance companies and all
types of health care-related companies.
Your local medical billing and coding schools and colleges may have this hiring benefit too. So you want to make
sure to ask your online and on campus schools who hires their graduates.
A grade of "C" or better is one of the criteria for graduation and in order to be able to receive the medical
billing and coding specialist certificate.
Classes or courses can be taken on a full time basis which covers 4 quarters or taken part-time.
